ENTER TO WIN: Our National Gallery ‘Monochrome’ Competition!
Londnr Magazine is delighted to announce a new competition with The National Gallery, running from the 20th of November until the 20th of December!
The latest blockbuster exhibition, ‘Monochrome: Painting in Black and White’, showcases what happens when artists cast aside the colour spectrum. An odyssey of lightness and shadow, stark contrasts, and greys both soft and steely, this exhibition allows the viewer to experience the full impact and imagination of a limited palette.
Travel from the Middle Ages, through the Renaissance and into the 21st century, as the exhibition explores the tradition of black and white painting across 700 years. Including masterworks by van Eyck, Rembrandt, Dürer and Ingres, alongside contemporary luminaries such as Chuck Close, Gerhard Richter and Bridget Riley, the exhibition closes with a scintillating light installation from Olafur Eliasson.
With major loans from around the world, the exhibition is an unmissable chance to see how artists across the ages have used the impact of black and white to stun their viewers and flaunt their skill.
