It’s Clutch, by Anika Roach
Today is your last chance to attend In Spite of That! Where everyday moments, as well as premier league football, make their way onto the canvas. To miss this would be remiss and foolheartedly!
Painter Anika Roach draws from the abstract and the absurd in paintings such as ‘It’s Clutch’, interrogating the power and the problem of representation. Her genderless, formless subject is fighting to take shape despite being backgrounded and objectified – perhaps implicating modern media’s tendency to silence and sexualise black voices.
